The Canyons Gondola and Beach progress pictures
Showing property at The Canyons yesterday - again. Westgate whole ownership condos and Silverado whole ownership condos. Both at great prices.
This time I took pics. Not great pics, but good enough to see the progress of the 2 biggest changes at The Canyons.

The new Gondola towers are under construction. We decided the only way the new Gondola path will work is for it to make a turn at this new tower to the new base. We'll see...
The new Gondola base and Beach. The concrete footings have been in for a while, but now they are preparing the area for the beach and placement of the new Gondola base. Still no sign of the heated domed chair. On my next hike from Sun Peak area I will check out the far side of The Canyons to see if anything is completed. Check back for updates!

The Canyons Golf Course Official Ground Breaking
Finally! It has been at least 10 years in the making. Way back in 2003 I heard about this golf course in Park City at The Canyons for the first time. My husband writes for Golf Vacations Magazine golfvacationsmag.com and was invited to Park City to write an article about the soon to be Canyons Golf Course. Well, as you can guess the golf course was delayed, and delayed and delayed.
If you wish to take a look at all of the history, infighting and drama go to parkrecord.com and search for The Canyons Golf Course. It will read like a soap opera. I knew Talisker would get the job done. All those years of waiting and poof! Talisker buys the resort, golf course goes in.
From a Real Estate point of view, homeowners and Realtors alike have been waiting for this golf course to happen. Just the fact the golf course is official should get some buyers off the fence and feeling like they are getting in at a great time - before the rest of the world figures out The Canyons is a four season fabulous resort. Prices are great and the golf course will increase summer traffic.
Speaking at a groundbreaking event Tuesday morning, Canyons Managing Director Mike Goar said he expects golfers to begin playing the course in 2013.
"Technically, the golf course construction is underway and will be underway in earnest next spring," Goar said. "It's been a long time coming, a lot of hard work by a lot of people."

BEAUTIFUL PARK CITY FALL COLORS!
Took a drive today through areas of Park City, Brighton, Solitude and on into Snowbird and Alta. All in the pursuit of Fall Color. The best areas for getting those great shots are in Guardsmans Pass, the seasonal access through Deer Valley's Empire Pass Area into Brighton and Solitude. Just gorgeous. We are so spoiled here in Park City.
The photo to the left was taken near Brighton.
Ok, this one below was really taken in Fall of 08, but I decided to include it!
Staging and Preparing your Home for Showings
I know, I rant on and on about this. There is a reason for it - I go into so many homes each week here in Park City, Utah that the homeowners have apparently never read any of this information! Toilets are not flushed, rooms are too crowded with outdated furniture, homes are dirty - the list goes on and on.
This is part 2 of staging and preparing your home for showings. Please see my blog link below for part 1 http://pcrealestate.blogspot.com/2010/06/staging-tips-to-sell-your-home.html
1.Get Them at the Curb.
You've seen them, and I have been driving them. Buyers hunkered low in their cars in front of your house making judgements about your entire home based on the curb appeal before deciding whether to go in or just move on. Make these potential buyers fall in love with your home from the street by adding potted plants and flowers, power-washing patios and walkways, weeding the garden and mowing the lawn. It's your first chance to make a good impression, so you've got to make it count.
2. Make repairs.
Make your home a Buyer's dream. Make it a no repairs needed home. Buyers see one item and they look for more. Repair squeaky doors, chipped or smudged paint as well as broken fixtures and fittings that you've neglected
3. Apply a fresh coat of paint.
It's the best bang for your buck that will quickly refresh a dull, dated room. Slap a fresh, neutral color on the space. Choose a beige or taupe for living spaces and a neutral green or bronze for bathrooms
4. Consider replacing furnishings.
Think about removing or replacing worn or outdated furnishings and get rid of extra pieces. The time has come to move beyond matching furniture, so break up your sets; dated can easily become eclectic with rearranging and removing. Consider consulting with a professional staging company for design direction and advice on rental furnishings to create an inviting home with broad appeal to a wide range of buyers. Remember, most buyers cannot see past the 1970's prints or the worn couch. The Park City look is a bit rustic, with some contemporary looks upcoming.
5. Take a hike.
No buyers want to discuss your home while you are standing there. On average, my clients spend about 20-30 minutes in a home that has some promise; very few stay more than 5 minutes in a house with the seller in earshot. If nothing else, go for a walk or to a neighbor's house for a few minutes. Let your home speak for itself. If you have done your job of staging and preparing for showings, you can walk away with confidence.

High West Distillery in Park City and my favorite whiskey drink
I finally did it. I played tourist yesterday and took the High West Distillery tour here in Park City. It was great! I am already a big fan of High West's Rendezvous Rye, but I took the opportunity to check out the other varieties.
Terry was our tour guide and he did a wonderful job of giving us the low down on how whiskey, rye and vodka are made.Very complicated process. They use local Utah ingredients - that's good. Terry took us through the process, but it is already gone from the brain. I guess the most important thing is it tastes great.
They make their spirits in small batches so every one will taste slightly different, unlike the big mass produced ones where they all taste the same.
I have already consumed several bottles of the Rendezvous Rye since it appeared on the scene in 2007, but I think I have found a new, more expensive love - Rocky Mountain Rye 16 year old. Here is what they say about it:

Because of its unusually high rye mashbill compared to other older rye whiskies, Rocky Mountain Rye 16 Year Old is the rye-est rye sipping whiskey you’ll ever taste. We’ve only got 173 barrels of it. So experience this very unusual rye whiskey now—before it’s all gone
I say it is pretty darn good.
Our tour concluded with viewing the rest of the Park City property which consists of the old Livery and Garage - my favorite side and the restaurant side where they only serve dinner in small intimate rooms.
Next time in Park City, take the tour. After all, it is the only distillery you can ski-in and ski out of.
My favorite High West drink: Lemonade, Rendezvous Rye with a bit of ginger. Excellent!
LaCroix Interview on the Park City Mountain Morning Show
In this video you will see mu husband, Larry touting LaCroix water on Park City TV's Mountain Morning show. My favorite flavors are Orange and Grapefruit.

Utah is starting to add JOBS!
Utah is starting to add jobs: Utah added 17,200 jobs for the 12 months ended in July, according to the Utah Department of Workforce Services. The numbers represented a 1.5 percent gain, compared to flat growth for the U.S. Utah’s unemployment rate remained unchanged in July at 7.2 percent, compared to the U.S. unemployment rate of 9.5 percent, also unchanged. According to UDWS, “The worst of the recession appears to be behind Utah.”
Great News! Utah Jobs are becoming plentiful again.

The Canyons in Park City upcoming Golf Course Announcement
Officials anxiously await announcement about golf course at The Canyons
Dignitaries may attend ceremony at resort on Sept. 21
Posted: 09/07/2010 05:06:21 PM MDT
This month, a slew of dignitaries are planning to attend a ground-breaking ceremony for a golf course at The Canyons. Heated negotiations between property owners near the ski area appear to have ended and Summit County Manager Bob Jasper said construction of the golf course could be underway next spring.
Jasper blamed the construction delay on legal disputes between different property owners near The Canyons.
"We were trying to get them to quit litigating with each other and come together. I'm not telling you we are totally together. There are still some lawsuits out there, but most of it is resolved and that will allow for considerable investment in The Canyons," Jasper said in a telephone interview. "In the latest effort we were working with some 20 different property owners, everything from Talisker to Intermountain Healthcare, which also owns land there."
Talisker is the owner of The Canyons. But for the golf course to be built several other property owners near the resort needed to transfer their land.
"We've gotten everything through escrow," Jasper said. "It's starting to come together and it is coming together in a way that will be an economic engine for the county."
Officials expect to unveil a map of the proposed golf course at a ceremony Sept. 21, Jasper said.
"We'll show how it's going to be laid out," he said.
Course designers have been hired by Talisker and the Resort Village Management Association, Jasper said.
"I think it's going to be a

"The Canyons is working hard with the RVMA, the county and other landowners toward an imminent announcement about the golf course. The Canyons, with its commitment to excellence, has made fantastic strides with three new lifts and many more advancements yet to come. Summit County has done a great job of getting players to the table and moving this issue forward so that the residents and visitors of Summit County will have a fantastic golf course to enjoy," Talisker spokeswoman Lisa Roskelley said in a prepared statement.
Jasper described Talisker officials as "tough negotiators."
"It has been fair," Jasper said about the talks. "They have been able to focus on the bigger picture When you're in a litigation mode it's sometimes difficult to step back."

The new after Ski Beach at the Canyons is in the works!
Today I checked out the progress at the Canyons, because I know you are all dying to know what is going on. A little bit of snow on the mountain tops here in Park City has everyone thinking skiing.
The Gondola cars are scattered about on the ground in preparation for the moving of the Flight of The Canyons Gondola to the new Ski Beach.
Tractors are digging, Smokies restaurant is gone and the Ski Beach area is visible. Will they get it all done in time for ski season?
I was asked a funny question that I figured everyone knew the answer to: What the heck is a Ski Beach?
A Ski Beach is a wonderful place to hang after a great day of skiing here in Park City Ut. Usually lounge/beach chairs are set out to take advantage of the view and afternoon sun, drinks are nearby and lots of people hang out just because they can. Can't wait!
Above is their new pic of the new high speed 4 person heated and covered lift that replaces the Golden Eagle lift here at The Canyons. Sounds toasty!
